Am cross! as much with myself as anything. On Saturday I noticed that my viola & Evening primrose seedlings were well up & knew needed to prick out asap. Had busy w/end doing other things & so nothing got done. Just been down to check & NONE left!! Despite slug pellets too. Ok I accept that Digitalis seedlings are caviar & since they were old seed packets they being systematically munched was no surprise nor a big loss. The vilolas were from Tatton show so that's really annoying.

So just sown more seeds & this time straight into the kept open coldframe, which so far has remained slug/snail free. Grr!

Also not a sausage of the seeds sown direct into the veg bed- they've all been munched too! J.

I've not actually watched the closing bash yet- ended up hitting the 'record' button as knew couldnt last out till the end. OH leaves at a disgustingly early hour on a monday & daughter was also muttering about an early start, so I gave up!

Busy w/end doing paperwork with OH, watching as much sport as I could & actually having a good picnic out yesterday & doing a couple of good walks around Styal estate before the rain arrived.

Already have done various tasks here, none garden related, & am wondering if I got the washing back inside too soon as it's brightening up again...... J.

Too true Frank, total distraction this last couple of weeks.

W/end weather was whatever it was- busy Saturday & yesterday too. We went down to Styal & had a good walk around the rediscovered garden & then through the fields surrounding the mill & river. Wasnt too hot & just as arrived back in the mill yard, down came the rain! Luckily we'd had our picnic earlier on!

Today t'was bright & breezy, but going ominously dark now. The odd spit & spot of the rain we are due anytime now. So washing just back inside. About 19-20C at the mo. J.

Hi all.

Been driven back inside by swarms of flying ants- UGH!! All re-creamed up to sit out plus radio & book & do not much, but they all seemed to be coming down from somewhere above where I sit! So shall order tescos instead.

Did sensibly get busy sowing seeds this morning. All the pots now in the coldframe.

Not as sunny here today, but very humid, hence the ants I suppose, & hot!

Must remember to hide the remote. That way will get some chance of watching the sport. J.

Ugh, the ants are flying outside today. Have come back inside as my seat appeared to be beneath where they all seemed to land! Loathe them!

A lot more cloud around in Manchester today but hot. 25cish at the mo & sticky.

Sensibly did my seed sowing in the shaded greenhouse this morning, planning to relax this afternoon! J.

Not been too bad here either. More cloud around than yesterday, until I decided to do some cuttings using the greenhouse staging as a workbench! Ended up standing outside as cooler & leaning over to reach!

Got to about 22-23C I think & tomorrow should be similar. J.

A quick 'nip in' tonight as too much sport to watch! Getting in ironing practice too!

Had a productive garden day. Taken cuttings, deadheaded & generally pottered about. Discovered new cold frame lid is sooo heavy for my liitle arms, but have sussed how to cope. Seed sowing I think tomorrow.

May have a touch of too much sun- oops, despite loads of cream. Definitely am caviar for insects again as have at least 2 insect bites! I really should know better than to dive into a shrubbery when wearing shorts!

Have organised appointments to sort out earwax & feet, I hope, before end of month. Only accountant & car MOT now to get done!

Right, off to watch 'lympics. Jo.
