What's the weather like in your area?

Sleeting now on top of a layer of snow that fell overnight. I'm sure I heard rain or perhaps hail on the windows in the wee small hours.

It was just above freezing first thing, then dropped to just below as the sleet fell.

Winds have dropped, but due to increase again later. I need to go out to investigate a 'bang' heard last evening. The greenhouse roof panels still alll there from looking out of windows, so not sure what's 'gone'. J.

Oh Jean, poor you. Daughter asked why I had 2 old mugs & a packet of candles under the sink? She'll learn!

Chopper gone, still sleeting. daughter not a happy bunny as has to go out mid morning. I'm going to finish off the kitchen cupboard investigation/clean up then next week, or whenever I can start off seeds etc without feeling guilty! J.

Morning all.

Snow again, but was raining on top earlier coz i could hear it blowing on windows.

Boiler kept silent this morning, then subtly started a very quiet whistle as if to say 'yah boo sucks' to us.

All I can think of is the song 'Love is all around' after hearing about Reg Presley dying.

Dont want an i-pad, nor smart phone I can do enough typos without extra help.

Porridge now. J.

There you are folks, Dean's a real ironing freak! Redoing it after his OH already done it. OMG that would be WW3 around here.

Sorry Dean.

Bathroom reinstated so we can use it again. Proper clean up there either tmrw or thursday. Wednesday have an appointment & will walk there, doing a quick shop on way back. Friday get 'stabbed' again. 3rd to last though.

Now to sign off & go watch the latest A-Z we taped. Night all. J.

Overwintered failures

Yet again an autumn sowing of things has been chewed by the slimey brigade, despite pellets etc. in the coldframe. I should know better, it happens nearly every time.

So next week shall resow some sweetpeas & everything else waits until March- it all catches up.

Agree with you Bookertoo, us northerners do have to do things differently. J.

BTW dusting certainly doesnt get done regularly around here nowadays. I soon discovered last yr, when having the chemo that nobody noticed, nor cared. I did a bit, but have soon learnt to ignore it.

Drat, need to replace stuff into the 'airing' cupboard & then we'll make a start on meal. Well she offered! J.

NO I dont iron dusters, nor underware, come on......

Welcome back Glyn.

Ok the cupboard sort out/clean has now ground to a halt for the day. Knackered & my vision is threatening to play up- a sure sign overdoing things. Have rescued a lot of daughter's things from various cupboards, need another box for charity collection & we'd better go to the tip sometime again!!

At least now I shall stop feeling guilty everytime I open certain cuboard doors, but remember with fondness JEEMAR, who egged us all one one Spring, bless her. Nice lady.

The boiler has 'cocked a snook' (?) at us by starting to whistle. We both yelled at it & not a peep since....oh no, I'll kill it!! J.

Quick nip in.

It's WILD outside. Have replaced the bird feeder I removed as the ground feeders losing out. Ratty has moved the bait, so a fresh batch put down. Compost bins not been attacked though.

Greenhouse panels have flipped inwards this time, despite the new tape & fixings, so at least they're not flapping & unlikely to blow away.

Electrician been & gone. Engineer ditto. Boiler has refused, of course, to oblige us today with any whistling despite various tactics tried. Any more trouble & manufacturer next! Engineer has had 1 other instance of this, so am not going mad, yet.....

Daughter & me have been emptying out, sorting through, & cleaning various kitchen cupboards. This is the first 'clean out' since spring 010, so interesting as to what is being found. Quite amusing too as daughter keeps saying 'are you sure that you want that? because if not'......

Right, next batch of cupboards await. There is also now a new pile of 'for tip' in the hall.

Will catch up later, J.

WManchester-about 7-8C out there now, but feels colder as wind is wild.

Have topped up birdfeeders, put down some more rat bait- joy, checked on the greenhouse roof panel that has flipped inwards this time, so isnt flapping/loose & am back inside. J.
