what to do with paper whites now

Posted: 03/02/2013 at 17:14

I too hate the smell.

Seriously, dont waste the time, effort etc trying to get them to reflower again. As said, treat as annuals, throw/compost & buy new later this year. J.

Wow you lot all been busy I see.

Becks, your new family member looks gorgeous.

Geoff, Happy Christmas, again.

Sasha, try not to get lost again.

Bjay, take care. Hope that it can be sorted out for you.

Me- sick of the sight of boxes appearing from various cupboards. Daughter has emptied & refilled her wardrobe, soon to be ours again, I hope. She's doing evening meal now, shall clear up as usual I expect.

OH's taking otc NSAI for his hips/back, but still sat at the pc all the time instead of trying to keep mobile.

1 last tin at the top of my wardrobe awaits- need to do it then will feel happier. Lots of memories turning up, & the odd puzzle- why did I want to keep that? Paper wheely bin already nearly full & 2 weeks before next collection..... More 'for tip' things dumped in hall too. Right off I go. J.

What's the weather like in your area?

Been damp & 'grismal' all day in WManchester.

I did the shed sort out yesterday, not as bad as expected. Now all the boxes of seed trays etc are easy to get at. The nearest box contains the netting for my home-made fruit cage, which will need to be erected sometime soon.

Ok back to the top of wardrobe sort out......1 more box to go, J.

Pause in box sort out here.

OH & me having a very interesting time remembering trips out, concerts etc the majority pre daughter. A lot getting dumped in recycling pile. Old maps of places, old issues of guides, when I know we've got more recent.....

Not recycling the hand prints pic done by daughter at toddler/playgroup though- ahh, sweet.

Signing off now. Night all, J.

Kate- honestly! Told you I'd got indigestion- repeating......

Inka, I too have SJW, but trim mine back later in Feb. I do seem to have got on top of it over the yrs & often yank bits out! Mind you that border is in need of a major revamp. One day, never, shall remove all the plants & bulbs & dig it all over properly!! Somehow, dont think so......

Oh wow, daughter actually taking the hoover up to her room.

Right, boxes of whatever await. J.

Am stuffed! Just had chunky oven chips, a first for me to buy & cook, honestly, & fried eggs with ketchup & bread & 'butter'. OH waits till all finished & then says that he had that for his tea last night..... honestly you'd think he'd 've spoken up, most unusual for him not to!

Not surprisingly have a touch of indigestion- courtesy of my medication/chemo as it's something I've never had before, but boy have I got used to it over the last yr.

The 'sort out' will continue later. Have boxes of old guides & suchlike to go through. Earlier daughter discovered my collection of '70s t-towels. All new. I know that I used to buy one wherever we went & wondered where they were when I didnt find them when doing the top of spare room wardrobe. J.

BYW I have one of those crates/baskets too. Daughter brought it back with her from uni. It's in the greenhouse at the mo, filled with dirty pot saucers awaiting sorting, brushing down & yes, putting away.......

I'd better go & get changed before they get back or they'll know I've been on here... J.

Hadnt thought of those, but yes, why not? Bit of side insulation would help, drainage holes, carry handles! I spotted a couple of the wooden crates in the shed, which jogged my memory.

So are you going to get a small greenhouse as the main set up? J.

Becks- had another cheapy idea, also GH-

Try & get hold of, a wooden veg crate, your Co-op may have some? OK slatted sides, but use some poystyrene sheet from packaging, around sides to provide some insulation & either bit of glass over the whole or some clear plastic sheet tied on!! Bingo a coldframe of sorts for transition from the little greenhouse.

Shed refilled, boxes now in order for needing. Propagator in porch, compost bags down in shed. The 2 huge lidded plastic boxes, dirt cheap from Asda that OH says will not go back into our loft now donated to daughter to use!

Need to sort thru fabric scraps now, to see what's tippable, coz they're going up pronto. Byee, J.
