Todays' snack- plenty to go around but may not be to everyones' taste

M&S cheese & onion rolls, from freezer, heated up in Remoska. Salad leaves, roasted peppers, from a jar- woops how long in back of cupboard- remains of olives & feta cheese bits, from supermarket tub & warmed crusty bread.......

Coffee & applecake with icecream or neat to follow, or yoghurt & fruit for me. Ooh beeper, byee... J.

Composting and wormery

artjak- I have the wormery near to the back door, so that saves trotting down to the bottom of garden with kitchen waste in rotten weather.

Hollie, yes hair goes into my bins, plus some (shake out collection sheet) onto the lawn/patio in early Spring for the birds to collect for their nests. J.

Jo, I remember my sister's jubilation when her younger son finally moved out and began to learn for himself what running a household is all about! He asked if he could move back home if it didn't work out. She said no and started redecorating and furnishing his room immediately
Now he's the tidiest and most houseproud member of the whole family!

 

I wish She'll soon find out Mum's not around to find the lost so n so!

No chain involved so all being well she'll be in there 30yrs after she moved here! I'm desparate to get into her bedroom to create space elsewhere! It doesnt need redecorating thank goodness, but the spare room may, once we can see what's what in there! Just a quick touch up though as we want to move sometime.

Flo's correct Lottie- minimum temps for offices/shops. Boss must provide adequate heating if he expexts you to continue working.

I've come in for a rest. Have swept & shovelled our front & the drivway down to gutter. Added a wee bit of salt to our main bit & hope that some of the sun gets to it later. Daughter's car blocking the sun at the mo, but have at least cleared enough for her to move it tomorrow without too much difficulty. Where she parks on the kerb is all clear.

Right, drink & snacktime now. Later will clean our bedroom window, once sun gone round & no plants/propagator on the sill. J.

Surveys all ok for a 60+yr old house. Nice area, next to the most expensive, some work needed, but not too much. She's budgeted for that & what furniture is urgent ie bed! Grumbling about all the sales finishing, but she can wait for lots of things.J.

Brilliant sunshine in WManchester at the mo.It snowed lightly all day yetsrday, but no more overnight.

The temperature dropped as the sun rose this morning, from above to below freezing. Now just about above freezing out there despite the sun.

Need to clear our front path & daughter move her car, so I can get mine out of garage. Ice grippers for boots, salt & spade at the ready. J.

Daughter just put the last bits of new paper into OH's printer- hmm, shall remove it & replace with the 'once used grotty stuff' that OH & me use when not important. See -recycling. Will need to add paper to tesco just to get us by, saves me carrying it. Daughter also run out of paper for hers..... Oh am so looking forward to somebody living in her own house!! J.

strawberries

Small strawberry plants will be around in GC/mail order soon Verdun. That would be the simplest way & you may find out which variety they are. Cant help you on that as my original plants were given me by a neighbour, so no idea.

My first experience of the Alpines was when walking in the Austrian Alps one summer. There was a group of plants on the top of a very sunny slope, just at the edge of the tree canopy. Flinty, lime, soft woodland soil mix at that spot. They remained there for a couple of yrs, then the authorities decided to dump a huge heap of gravel, which they use for the paths around there, right on top of the plants! Everytime I walk past that spot now,I wonder if someone removed the plants or not before the tipper deposited its' load. J.

No you're not a wimp Jean, totally understand you. My days of willingly drivivng in snow have gone too. If I had to then I would, but never enjoyed it.

It's slipping on ice when walking I dread. Will never ski, though could be tempted by the crosscountry sort. Then perhaps not, remembering my attempts at roller skating!

Daughter beat me to bathroom so shall watch the birds arriving on feeders. J.

Morning all.

Was awake when Gary posted, but only because of the boiler!

All the mending done. No Geoff, even I'd chuck those. Daughter decided to start her room sort out, before & after Lewis. I can now safely walk up to her bed to deliver a cuppa!

A few chores planned for today, then will clear the snow at the front a bit more. Am careful though, as slabs beneath the snow can be slippy- due their power wash soon- so often worse than lying snow. I need to go into M/C by bus on thursday & pavements look lethal so snow grippers over boots until I get to bustop I think.
