What's the weather like in your area?

Posted: 19/01/2013 at 13:23

W.Manchester was below freezing, just, again this morning. No more snow overnight, but it keeps trying today. Not even reached 1C outside yet.The roads around had all been gritted, even the estate, so driving this morning fine.

Have fed the birds- lots around today. Loads of house & hedge sparrows earlier- great to see them again.

Now to get comfy with a seed catalogue, need to finalise my order. J.

Afternoon all.

Wobbles just started so have finally sat down. Roads on estate clear!! Wow, so off to Sainsbury's we went. Daughter amazed at how quiet store was, hadnt believed me. No I dont shop all the time, honestly, but fresh fruit & veg  I get little & often so no waste!

Whoever ran out of washing powder, can send liquid ciberetically if any good? Aldi's best, excellent BTW as we do have soft water. They've however upped/changed the perfume in their 'plain' (!) softrinse, which I dilute by 50%, so am trying someone elses' which is supposed to be very suitable for sensitive skin- we shall see. Well daughter was offered pancakes for her pud, but she declined! Still suffering after nights.

We may/may not walk, me wearing snow grippers on boots, to shops. See how we feel. OH says not much snow over there, but I bet in the middle is murder- Peak District!

Have put our garden/food waste wheely bin out for tomorrows' collection. Cant see there being a problem. Always wonder how the wagon drivers cope with all the cars parked everywhere around here on a Saturday morning.

Dean- lots of hard work gone on around your place. Well done & the allotment too.

Off to watch TV now. Stay warm. J.

Is that really the time? Meal to sort out soon- fish goujons & lots of veggies. Icecream if daughter wants a pud..... No cake in house, we may have to have a baking session this w/end.

Have ordered my Tesco delivery for next week. Think should be fine timewise as may be going out for lunch that day. Have just remembered that daughter off, revising, so no problem.

The Amaryllis is almost out, it has 2 big flower spikes & a 3rd in between! Good value. Parkers GC (!) & I did pick the biggest bulb.

Right, cooking now. J.

I had a snooze.

Nurse thinks could be anaemic as very pale & yes tired. Last time she saw me was just after Austrian holiday when had a tan & hadnt had as many doses of Herceptin. Still am in clinic soon, will be just as easy asking for a blood test there as trying to get into see GP. Then would need a practice nurse appointment to get it done & back to GP for results. Hospital will do in couple of hrs...... In the meantime shall check out my diet & continue with the vitamins.

Kate- put it up, rest. Guess you know the score. J.

Snow coming down more thickly here now, but still nothing to what Geoff & Becks got- seen David's pic on another thread & he's not a million miles from Becks.

Daughter abandoned tring to snooze on sofa- good- & gone upstairs to sleep. Need to assemble my lunch soon as nurse due about lunchtime!

Shall walk up to local shops tomorrow, no point in moving cars around. Have just seen a gritter lorry go down our the road- wow, a first in 30yrs- but I dont think he was actually gritting as going too fast? Not going out to check.

Glad you're ok Bjay. Not the best day to do that journey. J.

Has anyone got any snow yet?

Posted: 18/01/2013 at 11:05

It's snowing again here West Manchester, not particularly heavy. 1-2ins at the most so far. Temperature has actually fallen again from first thing to definitely below freezing.

I have just seen a grit lorry go down our road, which must be a first in 30yrs!! Not sure it actually did drop any grit though as seemed a bit fast? J.

Oh not nice Flo. One of the slates from above our bedroom slid down one yr, so I know about the noise!!

We've only had a dusting of snow. Daughter has made it safely from SLancs to nearer central Manchester. All being well she'll be leaving after the school runs so getting home, & so to bed, shouldnt be too bad. J.
