Reindeer- carrot, stable, manger....... I did say my brain works in a very weird way.

OMG OH thinks he's sussed the trouble.... He's promised NOT to try removing any radiator valves without first turning off the water first. Help!! J.

Boiler off again!!

OH now discovered that radiator valve twiddling in daughter's room stops it- daughter said same last week. Now I know that when many yrs back OH replaced the valves, with the then new thermostatic ones available, he got hers the wrong way round!. Engineer this time said shouldnt matter, but it makes you wonder...... as they've kept them as found, ie the wrong way round! Any heating engineers plumbers out there? J.

Yes Becks this one is from Morrisons- spelt bread. No meat products in this kitchen but it does go well with all sorts. I can even eat it 'neat' so to speak!

Bjay wobbles hopefully should settle by mid next week. I managed to walk down to the hospital last time on the Tuesday after the friday drug session, but was glad of a lift back up. I'd have got a taxi if nec. Now I know where to park & it's still got plenty of spaces before 10am, so I may drive down on the Wednesday for the other early appointment, then I can drive home via the GPs/chemist to collect my latest prescriptions. That was a first- ordered repeats on-line! Simples! Much better than having to do it by phone only between certain hours etc etc & e-mail reply to confirm. J.

Unheated/uninsulated greenhouse

Posted: 07/12/2012 at 16:23

That reminds me- If you turn a large terracotta pot upside down you can light a tea light beneath. When it goes out the pottery still radiates heat, just like a storage radiator. Knowing how draughty my greenhouse is I dont need to ventilate, but yes take that into consideration.

Also filling several, preferably painted black, plastic bottles with water & placing around the greenhouse/coldframe. The water may freeze if very cold, but it acts as a 'heat exchanger' apparently & keeps the inside temperature more even. Am no engineer  but do still do this. J.

OH has just decided to retune the digi box & consequently lost all the programs set to 'tape'! Daughter will not be amused!

Give a man a remote...... I should know better.

Snacking now on soft 'crusty', yes I know, bread with rosehip jam! Yummy. J.

Aut of control Laurel bush

Posted: 07/12/2012 at 15:47

Yes I hard pruned my enormous cherry laurel back to very low down about 1- 2yrs ago. Now it's already a nice, sensible, sized shrub again that I shant let get as big again!

Daughter is in the proccess of buying her first house with quite a mature garden. Luckily she will seek my advice, for what it's worth, about any shrubs/plants she inherits. I have the phone number of a good reliable tree surgeon that I've used regularly over the yrs & he actually lives closer to where her house is situated than to mine! J.

Becks- 3 chocolate decorations & a toy car.

Glad you both beginning to get better. OH, who's snoring on the sofa quietly at the mo, has said that he's hasnt been feeling 100% recently, but not actually ill?

Only 5 more drug sessions to go! Yay! Literally felt wobbly within 30mins as went down to compost bin with the bucket this time- drat. Give it a few days & that should have settled, I hope.

Just phoned someone at the hospital back. She phoned to rearrange an appointment that had been scheduled for next thurs. Oh yes, what appointment next thurs? Now have first thing on wednesday- drat. Could drive & park for free though if dont allow enough time/ feel up to walking down first thing. Think just about know where to go - lots of changes down there due to new buildings being up & running now. And they wonder why I am confused?! J.
