Pruning a Photinia

Posted: 28/02/2016 at 14:13
Hi, I bought a Photinia Red Robin in 2014 and put it in a suitable pot and soil. It seemed to thrive despite almost immediately it had something chewing it, but I couldn't find anything. I didn't prune it the first year and this week I decided to prune it because it was looking leggy without foliage low down, without consulting any books etc, so I'm not sure if I have done the right thing. Having read the correspondance here, I think it's ok. Perhaps more should come off.??

Honeysuckle

I have a 3yr old Honeysuckle in a pot in a shadey back yard. Having fed and watered it well this year, it flowered beautifully. I think it got too dry in the warmer weather as I was worried about over-watering. Now the powdery mildew has taken hold of it and although the plant has been fighting back with new growth and berries, the leaves have been dropping now for about 3 weeks...so do I prune it back now, leave it to struggle through winter or what?? It's looking a bit sad now. Thanks for any thoughts

I have a clematis that is about 3 years old and supported, in a pot. Since last year the whole plant has purple foliage. no flowers this year, but fairly healthy growth. Is this down to just too small a pot or does it need loads of feed? I have been feeding it, but maybe the wrong formula.HELP! JA
