problem hedge

Posted: 09/06/2015 at 05:43

How long is the hedge, how high is it and what shape is it currently cut in? Does it form a boundary with a road, footpath or a neighbour's garden? If a public road or path, is it encroaching on the width of that way at all - in other words, is it a nuisance to anyone even to the slightest extent? What is the diameter of the trunks at about a foot above the ground? Is the purpose of this hedge to give privacy?

If I was 80 years old I wouldn't want to run either.

next step of storing tulip/daffs bulbs?

If the green's all gone and the bulbs are dry you can store them anywhere, although not all in a heap, for preference.

Mattocks and big crowbars are good for that sort of job.

Just because it's convenient to you to cut down hedges in spring, it doesn't make it right or legal.

The easiest way to get rid is to hire a skip. You may need two, but if you cut it all into smaller bits and pack it in well, it will help.

Jo47, your neighbour is clearly not a diplomat! But you have to allow him the preference not to have neighbours' plants growing into his garden. Similarly, bad hay-fever can be a dreadful problem - there are certain plants that give me a hard time. Both good examples of how not to approach problems.
