About me:I am 71 years old and have been gardening since I was about 11 as Mum and Dad had an allotment and I used to help look after it. When I got married in 1966 we bought the house in Mangotsfield Bristol where we still live and the earlier years of gardening really were a good background for me. In the early years we did a lot of veg gardening but after our children married in 1996 & 1997 we did a revamp and changed around creating a kidney shaped lawn with borders and the bottom end of the plot to raised beds to save my knees. My birthday present to myself in October 2012 was a Robinson Octagonal greenhouse which is brilliant. I've posted a pic of my back garden rather than of myself or some non-sensical avatar. We've had some major changes in the garden a couple of years ago with a couple of raised beds created. I did the designs and a local landscape gardener who used to be foreman of the garden team at Bristol Zoo did the work for me which we are very pleased with. I learned a lot from my parents who were experienced gardeners for many decades. Dad passed away in November 1996 at 83 but Mum kept on with her gardening until her mid 90s. She passed away on Jan 18th this year (2015) at 101 but her garden still bears testimony to her horticultural skills - Roses being her main passion. Sadly we are now in process of selling her place in High Wycombe, Bucks so the new owners will inherit some wonderful planting. It's now November 2015 and I've been told that the new people who bought my mum's place have ripped out the perimeter hedges and fence and turned the garden into a car park! Not sure my mum would have approved of that! - (correction) I'm certain she wouldn't have!!!
