Hi Christine, I have been to Gardening Scotland a few times, it is usually in June and held at the airport where they have the royal highland show

Growing Sweet Peas 2014/2015

Posted: 23/02/2015 at 13:21

Thanks David, I was planning on sowing them yesterday but was holding off as was not too sure about flowering time.  Hopefully they will do better than last year, they did not seem to like the hot and dry weather

Growing Sweet Peas 2014/2015

Posted: 23/02/2015 at 12:08

I am going on holiday for two weeks at the start of June, and I want my sweet peas not to be flowering when I am away as no one will be able to cut them, so question is when is the best time to sow the seeds so they do not flower until mid june?

I treated myself to this, there was a 15% promotion on and I bought it via a cashback website so worked out cheaper.  This is a great size for my small garden.  Did take me about two days to build though!

Heating/Insulating Greenhouse

Posted: 09/01/2015 at 11:40

I purchased a greenhouse last year 6ft by 4ft and grew annual seed, they did OK, but did take sometime to germinate as did not have any insulation or heater.  However this year I am being organised! I plan to insulate the greenhouse with bubble wrap and perhaps invest in a greenhouse heater for a greenhouse this small does anyone have any recommendations.

Just been browsing for seeds which I always buy too much of!

Alternatives to Log Roll?

Posted: 09/12/2014 at 12:01

wow fairy girl I love your garden, I am in the same situation, my log roll has been in three years now and when getting the garden ready for winter I noticed it has started to rot.  The timber that you used for your edging fairy girl is it gravel boards, or is it fencing boards?

Clematis Query

Posted: 10/09/2014 at 15:23

I have a 7ft gap between two honeysuckles on my fence, I would like to grow a clematis, perhaps something that keeps its leaves all winter.  Really like white and blues, not too much a fan of pinks.  I plan to put some wires up for it to grow along and also let it grow through the fence.  It is in a sunny south facing position,  Soil is poor, but will be improving it.  Anyway my question is does anyone have any suggestions of a particular type??

Previously grew sweet peas in the gap, but they have been disastrous for the past two years!

Front lawn ideas

What about a copper beech hedge up the side on the driveway on the left, I think even if you put low shrubs in they will still cut across it! What about perhaps lavender along the front of the garden and some low growing perennials
