ripening tomatoes

here is a tip for ripening the last green tomatoes as autumn starts to set in. Pull the whole plant out the ground leaving the green tomatoes on the vine and hang the plants upside down in a frost free place (shed). The goodness left in the plant will run backjup the plant and into the vines, ripening the tomatoes and giving them there natural sweetness

when you say dont put the manure too near them  does that mean i should rotavate the manure in???? as currently it is on the surface.

hi, do winter onions like fertilised soil????? if so i have well rotter chicken manure is this any good or shall i buy some fertiliser? also should i cover the onions?
