Free zinnia seeds are tomatoes!

Posted: 14/07/2015 at 22:26

Thanks all - just curious! Looked at the remaining seeds & could be toms! I was wondering why the snails weren't having a feast as they normally do with zinnias but then  the smell from the leaves were a total giveaway. So I've loads of tomato plants to give away but if they are not sun gold which is the variety I always grow then the mystery remains!

I think either the seeds or I've got mixed up but all the free zinnia seeds I've sown are tomato plants!

Lilac - few flowers, viburnum no flowers & camassia few flowers! Why?

Posted: 03/05/2015 at 19:06

last year my lilac was wonderful, deadheaded but that's all and only a very few blooms. The same with the viburnum - last year wonderful April 7! This year nothing ...& the camassia which I've had in the ground for years with wonderful blooms but this year only one or two! Is it time to call quits - with the camasska at least?

My cuttings didn't work from a plant I had last year and I'm struggling to find the same variety. Is helichrysum gold the same colour?

I think I'll put it in the shed & if it doesn't work hopefully the cuttings will work. Thank you!

Thank you! I took some cuttings today and they are in my propagater on the window sill in the conservatory - no direct sun. I'll put them in the shed - which does have windows - once they are rooted. Yours look very good - I think I'll do more tomorrow!

My helychryssum limelight looks very good & I want to make sure it survives over winter. It's in a large pot & sheltered by large evergreen bushes on the back patio. I do live by the sea on the Forth but it is sheltered.
