Propagating and Growing Bilberries

My mum used to make wimberry (spelling??) pies in the 50's - they were gorgeous. I've often wondered if they were the same as blueberries.

Talkback: Collecting autumn leaves

I use the lawnmower, even on the patio!! It makes it much easier and it chops up the leaves as well so they "do their thing" quicker.

Khakibos, you have just taken me back over 25 years! We used to eat gemsquash when we lived in Zambia - we loved them. I wouldn't have thought you could grow them here - let us know how you get on. I may see if I can find some seed for next year

Wow, Lily, I'm very impressed! If mine turn out half as good, I'll be a happy bunny. Mine (grown from seed) are only just flowering and in a small plastic growhouse - I believe they like to be warm.

Nut - a snail keeps getting at mine (it goes on holiday - by air - if I see it ) so would dread to think what would happen to them in the garden!!

No joke from me - I'm useless at them.

But what a good way to start the day - I love them.

Hi Obelixx. It'slovely and sunny here in w Manchester and my basil (sown on Sunday) is germinating!!

However, I'm getting really worried about the snow forecast for tomorrow and Saturday. I am driving to my daughter's in Birmingham tomorrow and from there to Bolsover (near Chesterfield) on Saturday for a watercolour workshop. Hope the snow doesn't stop us going as it's been booked for a while. Maybe we need to take a douvet, flask and shovel.

Anyone oop North started planting yet ?

Oop 'ere in west Manchester, planted in windowsill propagators yesterday - plum toms, cherry toms, bush toms, chillies, sweet peppers, aubergines, basil, coriander. I think that's all in my March section of my seed box.
