Hosta - wow that is a lot!!!! My question is... how do you keep slugs and snails away! They must love your garden haha!!

I mentioned a while ago I have the beautiful "Elijah Blue" grass but it's not looking too fantastic at the moment. It's touch and go as to whether it's going to come out with any new fresh growth but it's not looking promising!!

Hope everyone's ok and had a good day!

Hmmmm the rust seems quite bad on mine this year. They're still at my parent's though, maybe they'll do better where I live now... (they're in large pots at the moment)!

Haha, Chicky, Big Daddy Hostas - I like that :-).

Thank you all for being so welcoming.

Dove - that's great that your daughter's a gardener - I would absolutely love to take up a career in gardening. It's something I'm thinking about doing once Elijah's in school. I've figured I've got plenty of time yet :-#.

Hi, Hosta! Hope you're feeling better soon :-(. I was in the hospital the other day, I always seem to be having some sort of pain in my back, neck or shoulders! I couldn't move the other day! Had lots of visits to the osteopath etc, but still get in terrible pain. Then it's a vicious circle as I can't go out in my garden :-(. So, I'm guessing you have lots of Hostas in your garden?

It's bright blue skies and sunny here near Mansfield :-). Hope the weather is nice for you all.

Mystery weed - What is it

The ground on mine isn't fantastic - quite hard!! I'm hoping for some help from my brother and step dad to dig the tops a little bit at first. Ahh well, it's a working progress!! Haha!

Liriodendron, thank you :).

He gets so involved already! He brings his little watering can to me and just says "water". It's very cute! Apart from when he stands watering his shoes! Ahh well, he's trying!

I can't wait to get him involved with nature and the outdoors. It's my favourite place to be :-D

You too Chicky :-D. It is exciting. Feels like it's a never ending task with the garden being left in such a horrendous condition though! I think the ground it made up of more rubble than soil :-(.

I have got LOTS of different plants. I have quite a few hostas, toad lilies, Asiatic lilies, regal lilies, lupins, budleias, dahlias, begonias, day lilies, lots of ornamental grasses (although, my favourite "Elijah Blue" doesn't seem to be doing well at all... can't see any new growth, it just looks dead. This was my favourite as my little boy's name is Elijah :-D). Indoors, I've got amaryllis, begonia rex, dracaena, pitcher plant, about 12 different cacti and a beautiful black calla lily to name a few. I've also got a little greenhouse with a few in there at the minute, including some fuchsias, chrysanthemum (seems to be coming back, left it in my unheated greenhouse over winter :-/), I have a collection of carnivorous plants as well, which I'm quite obsessed with!!

What's your favourites??? :)

Rust on Hollyhocks

Hi all :)

I have grown Hollyhocks for a few years now and every single one always seems to end up affected by rust!

Any ideas on why? or what I can do about it?

I personally think they're absolutely gorgeous flowers, but the unsightly rust on the leaves really puts me off!!

Thanks, guys :)
