Talkback: Trees for small gardens

I have planted my BBC Rowan tree in my garden or should I say the tiny stick that I recieved from the garden centre, hope it grows but I have this awful feeling that eventually will be too big.

Talkback: Chickweed

Posted: 24/11/2011 at 15:28
I have been inundated with chick weed brought in in bags of bought compost, I know this as being right as I used to tend my Aunties window box with the same make soil and the window box in no time was smothered in chick weed.

I have to get rid of a tree that is really no good, I have purchased a new tree but on small rootstock, intend growing in the ground rather than a pot, how far from the original tree should I plant it. the garden is small.

Talkback: How to clean and repair your garden shed

Posted: 24/11/2011 at 15:28
I love the idea of doing the shed clean up, but walking down my garden would be a no no, now the snow is melting my heavy clay is a quagmire, and would be completely ruined, not that I would be able to stay on my feet as I garden on a steep hill and I would be slip sliding away.

Talkback: Find out your soil type

Posted: 24/11/2011 at 15:28
I garden on clay good clay at the top then a layer of dead clay wich nothing could survive in then below that chalk, I do add different things to the soil to try to make it more pliable but it remains very heavy to dig, waterlogged in winter and cracked up in the summer, I live on a very steep hill side ways on to the garden and it seems that all the nutrients that I add leach off into my neighbors garden, shame they only grow weeds and rubbish.but I do keep struggling on to try and maintain it

Talkback: Ground elder

Posted: 24/11/2011 at 15:28
I will never manage to rid my garden of ground elder as my nieghbours tend not to look after their gardens so the problem is ongoing, even the weed killer is useless, but we keep on trying.
