What is it?

Lime green four clover like petals with red splash centres, but much larger than clover - suddenly appeared in my planter - Does anyone recognise it please? I'm happy it's taken up home with me!

Thanks so much.

What to do with the Lavender seedlings?

Thank you very much. It wasn't what I expected - these were meant to be for this Summer not next! Now to find space to save them for a whole year!

What to do with the Lavender seedlings?

Posted: 05/08/2012 at 07:08

I received my lavender 'plants' from the June issue of 'Gardeners' World' only at the end of July. Great offer but had no idea they would be so tiny - 36 5cm seedlings packed in tiny root containers and a thin, transparent case for posting. It says 'pot on'. I thought from June when I ordered them, I should be able to plant them out in my garden for this year! But do I really have to put each one in a pot and tend it until it is big enough to put in the ground? Will they flower this year?  How to keep them through the winter? - lavender in my experience is quite tender and most of my others died. Would it be better to find an inside space until next year? Oh dear, please help!

Please help! My eunonymous, grown from a tiny plant and now 4ft plus, is covered with a black sooty like substance, now both leaves and stem. I thought it was sooty mould but was told that this does no harm. Now part of the shrub seems to be dying back - sections of the leaves are now without colour and look like die back at least.

This is one of my favourite plants in the garden, so I am desperate to nurse it back to health. Any help gratefully received.

Hefty buddleia and small rose bush

Brilliant! Thank you so much - I will try and save waiting for the Autumn. I read that evergreens could be moved in March; I have a largish hebe - would it also be alright to move this now  a couple of feet?

Thank you! Yes, I imagine so as the buddleias spread themselves around the garden last year!

Does anyone have any advice re the rose?

Thanks for the recommendation. Would I kill the buddleia if I cut it right back to almost the ground - would it sprout again from thick trunk??

Wonderful weather but time moves on! Please can someone kindly tell me how to decrease the height and garth of my wonderful buddleia davidi that has outgrown its space? I actually have three and they have become like small trees. There is thick trunk like stem near the ground and to about 3 ft. I am thinking of cutting some 'trunk' back to decrease the garth but can I cut right down almost to the earth (not quite!) and will this help to produce smaller, more compact buddleias? I hope so!

Also I have a small 'wild type' ballerina pink rose, one of a number, which I meant to transplant a foot to fit in with the rest of the design, but did not get around to it. Is it too late? Two others were moved without problem last year but not at this time. The roses have some beginning leaves and buds. I have another, which only has one or two and I could transplant that one instead.

Thank you so much!
