Thanks for television suggestions    I'd forgotten about it when I woke up  If I hadn't been there when it died I would have suspected OH had sabotaged it as he's wanted a new one for a while.

Jean, I think you are probably growing a lunchbox variety cucumber.  Small chubby and  

Marilyn, only time I have had yellowy cumbers has been when they have lacked  light, grown at the back of the plant and covered by leaves.

Winter box, forgotten the correct name likes some shade and smells lovely when it flowers. Nut, what's it's name ?

They don't have showy flowers but evergreen, interesting pom poms bearing berries, great leaves, look at Fatsia Japonica.

Not that I'm really bothered as we have other small ones, but OH upset as big tele' died about 20mins ago  Guess what I need to participate in tomorrow ? Can't blinkling wait and a new stand will also be needed.

Katherine I can't enlarge the photo but the tops look like parsnip to me. What does the root look like ? I wouldn't expect much root now. However I'm no expert so hopefully someone else will reply to you
