Watercress? Yes!

Posted: 17/06/2014 at 19:32

Landcress has a taste of watercress, not the same texture, more like a peppery salad leaf. I've just had the first picking of watercress grown in a trough that has a water retention gulley at the bottom, little compost just roots into water and kept in semi shade. It was yummy, crunchy and the real thing

Panda I think you have an Astilbe with the pinkish flowers, if so it loves moisture and shade I very well might be wrong. Nice Heuchera name ? I know the one top 2nd to right but brain dead, what is the one top row far right? I like that.

Edit, not sure about Astilbe and the one in pink pot is a Hebe ? No doubt I'm totally wrong but can't blame a gal for trying

Red I don't know but I'd give it a good water and an eric' feed and see what others reply to you.

It's always a risk when you have to leave your plants to others, I don't even totally trust my OH, now considered as under gardener. Hope it recovers

Panda hugs for trampled plants

Lily enjoy your salad  Pasta

Just had salad. My rocket, salad leaves, water cress and cumbers from neighbour, radishes, spring onions and no taste toms from SM. Plus some salmon with ginger on and my chives  Wedges made from my spuds  So if you consider the cost of growing a few bits as money spent on a hobby, nearly a meal for nothing

Rebecca we only put pics of tidy areas on photos  well I do.

Clari Dave should be outside all the time, mine have for about 6 weeks come rain storm, plague of frogs etc.. They are tough, don't make them pappy. Not like GH toms. If they have flowers on and no evidence of pollinaters gentle wipe a clean finger from one flower to next, some do paintbrushes but I'm sure that will do it.  PM me if any probs.

Catch you all later meal on the go

Hi all

Chicky what a lovely area you've created.

Clari, grand looking spuds and even better in the pan, I could just eat them, but it's toast for me. I grew mine in bags of MPC with organic potato feed added, no probs with compost baking but needed plenty of water.

How are you toms going?  I've got a lot of small ones on Dave. GH ones not as many but plenty of flowers.
