Sorry Archie & Chicky we crossed.

Archie you are what my Dad called a Grafter, hard worker not a garden spade.

Chicky it's getting so bad isn't it ? Rain and more B rain, and more forecast. I'm just not looking at my lavenders and similar any more. Just so depressing, but at least they aren't trees that are falling.

Thanks Lizzie for spud info. Bet you are tired, amazing what 27 year olds can do when needs must.

Dove I let PD have the beer, I only like beer with a head on. p.s. HP on bacon buttie not ketchup, but I really enjoyed it

Hi Poddington, we had a thread running about spuds. I'll move it back up.

Due to lack of space I grow in potato bags and container, but only grow 1st earlies. I like Pentland Javelin, and this year I'm also trying Vales Emerald. I gather Lady Christi is very good can't find them locally and don't want enough to buy via internet.

I've nipped in and sorted them Dove

Just been so nostalgic on another thread, wish I'd had a camera when I was 10. In fact wish I'd taken garden pictures prior to last Spring, only have a few.

Raining again, it had been mildish, 7C, but swiftly getting colder.

Hi Pignut  Sorry about your Gran.

When I was 10 my parents bought a property that had an old cottage type garden, rambling roses, winding makeshift paths, old benches, dog kennels hidden in grass that was waist height, old sheds, a chicken run, lots of old apple, cherry and pear trees. We had a wonderful childhood playing amongst it all.

Over the years, as was the way for a lot of people in the late 60's & 70's and into 80's it became organised, lawned and tidied up. Concrete paths laid and areas levelled off. Did make huge veg' beds & greenhouses.

My Mother 85yrs still lives there, not as big as your Gran's only 1/3 acre, now it is like a park, grass, huge trees & shrubs, some beauties I will say, but to me if I could change things I'd take it back to what it was. She still has a lot of wild life due to the trees & shrubs. Very private place and most things grow far biggger than expected.

You have a great opportunity. Sadly I won't. I hope you manage to make it into what you remember, and your kiddies have the fun we had.

Would love to hear and see your progress.

Very best wishes.
