Mine was a 2nd hand Fiesta( I can't remember the cost in 1983 passed my test in 1981 but didn't have a car, had a wedding instead)

OH had to stop at pub on the way home for a pint he wasn't used to spending money 

My other cars I have bought 

His first car was a Capri VRA 307K that I crashed into a telegraph pole just as Ford had increased prices on parts by 10% ..he still wanted to get married

Fairy I didn't drop the pigs so guess I'd best freeze the marinade and put the BBQ away 

GWRS pickled shallots  I'm storing mine to cook with and will buy pickling onions later in the year.

I just make sure my finger nails are clean.. and in the Summer my feet when going to a GC  In Winter I wear gloves and socks and couldn't give a damn what anyone says to me...my money I've  retired early  ( didn't buy any handbags lol )  I don't have to be a snotty salesperson on commission or otherwise.
