Is it too late to uproot my avocado plant?

Posted: 29/10/2014 at 16:49

I grew a plant from an avocado stone years ago( a cocktail stick through the stone suspended over water)  it grow well indoors during the warm months reached about four feet in as many months, when it came time to put the central heating on it didn't like the dry atmosphere and it's leaves dried up and browned and eventually it lost all the leaves.   Any chance you can put yours in your bathroom ?

Woody I inherited my clump of  bog standard orange.  I planted Lucifer at previous house and loved the vibrant red, moved after two years so didn't see if it spread. Do you find Lucifer less invasive than the orange one or do you work to contain it?

David M glad that wasp kept you company and didn't visit me

David K a lovely shot of a very fine bird also not happy at seeing it tethered. I have seen some lovely flying displays by birds of prey that are in captivity because they have been injured and wouldn't survive on their own. Yorkshire wildlife park had a lovely fly by / performance by rescue birds the last time we went. Must remember to go again when it gets cold, last time the tigers were so lethargic it was too warm for them. Memo to self, remember to take camera  The bandstand was where I used to run around until I was dizzy many, many moons ago.

D Doris love the orchid, well don't know if love is right word  bit weird. I had a lily that before it opened looked like a dinosaurs head. Think I might have posted it on here.

Runny what can I say ? You go to a GC and take pics of cards  I took mine camera last Feb' to take pics of hellebores to decide which to buy later, batteries went so I came home with two plants.

Looking forward to more of Fidget's underwater treasures

It's turning a bit nippy here

Got a refund on the cartons of cranberry that wouldn't open, they didn't have anymore of the light version I wanted ! Not a result as I bought three because they were half price. Assistant manager didn't see the funny side when I asked if they had been half price because the tops were faulty

Woody I have had a load of crocomsia that I've dug up and I hoping I've seen the last of them, Gg would have been welcome to mine

I've only seen the Sherwood oak, actually been inside it, you could if you were small and it was in the late 1960's.

Thanks for the link Dove wouldn't have seen it otherwise.

Barney I'd remove the leaves and just leave about 1/2 " above the crown.
