Update new plants

Posted: 29/09/2012 at 15:09

How long more would the anemone  and the echinaceceas continue to flower from this time onwards?

I wanted to get some as well (since 2 months ago) as I thought they will finish flowering soon,I decided to put them on my next year list instead.

Difference between garden centre and grocery store herbs

Posted: 29/09/2012 at 15:02

Is there a difference between garden centre grown herbs and the one you get in your local grocery store?

I bought a thyme plant from a grocery store a few days ago and today when I visited the garden centre, although the thyme scent were exactly the same, the one in the garden centre was three times more expensive eventhough its much smaller. Although the grocery store thyme were bigger and fuller, the garden centre thyme has harder stems but were a third of the size I got in the grocery store.

Any thoughts?

Rose black spot?

Posted: 27/09/2012 at 10:10

I just planted my first rose plan (tea hybrid)t 2 weeks ago. Not long after that, I discovered the leaves were getting black spots. I sprayed some 'Rose Clear Ultra' a week ago. Now, a week later, more leaves are having black spots. What shall I do to it?

Spent plants

What do you do with spent plants? I have asters that have finished blooming and on the tag, it says bloom for only 1 season.

I was thinking of putting all the spents plants in the trough pot that I could hide out of side in my garden as they are still perfectly healthy plants, sort of like a retirement home for them.

Would just love to hear what you do?

Just an update, I bought 4 winter jasmine plant which is yet to be planted. I have to fix the trellis first.

Perhaps next spring, I will plant some Trachtyospermum on another wall. They smelt gorgeous in the garden centre.

What to do with a bucket of snails!!

I poured boiling water. Death is instantaneous.Just remember not to pour boiling water on the grass as it can scorch the grass as mine has. Not only the snails and slugs died, my grass too.

I recently purchased a trellis made of willow and notice the end were exposed. Do I need to cover them?
