removing daffodils from pots after flowering

Posted: 07/05/2012 at 18:16

I liked what Monty did with his bowls of bulbs.  He tipped them out of the bowl and planted the whole clump in the lawn as it was.

Another idea for next year would be to plant them in a basket in the pot so you can take the whole basket out and plant it out in the garden to die back.

Hurrah!  I have managed to get back in.  Still at Dubai.  Hoping to be back on a plane in around 12 hours time.

Pam - Glad to hear that your son did well for himself.  (less stories of scarey plane journeys please!)

I usually feel guilty about spening time on the internet but now there is literally nothing more useful which I could be doing.   My sister sent me an e-mail just now to tell me off for being silly.

I don't own a mobile phone, only have my work phone which I haven't brought with me because I am not supposed to use it for personal calls.  Am seriously starting to reconsider the whole mobile phone issue.

I don't watch airline programmes.  Do they tell you how to avoid falling asleep at crucial times?  Weather outside is much as you would expect in a desert

I am booked onto the next flight (tomorrow morning) and have been trying out all the facilities so have had a shower, lunch, numerous cups of tea and am now on the internet.

Not too bad because I am spending the day in the business lounge.  Just a bit boring.  It has crossed my mind to wonder how long I could live in the business lounge before they noticed I had not flown anywhere?

I am trying to be in Melbourne.  I believe that I must have nodded off when they called my flight so entirely my fault!!!

Self-seeded tomatoes

Posted: 07/05/2012 at 13:46

I get tomatoes popping up everywhere most years.  I keep meaning to be careful what I put in my compost bin but that never happens!  When I spread my compost I inadvertently sow the tomato seeds at the same time.  Usually I just weed them out but one year I left one and it did really well.  I was not entirely sure what it was!!
