Cucumber problem

Posted: 10/07/2015 at 16:25

Hi Logan, they are being automatically watered through an Aquapot which has feed in it as well, have grown them before in this way last year, and we had an abundance of cucumbers and they grew really well.

I have 2 cucumber in my greenhouse, they are growing really well, and we have had a couple of cucumbers of one of them, however, as they are producing new ones these are turning brown, also some that start off looking ok, then turn brown and  in the middle (see attached photo of one). The leaves did start to have some small white powdery spots on them, which I took off or wiped down. I googled the problem for the leaves and one suggestion was to spray with 1 part milk to 2 parts water, which I have now done so waiting to see what happens.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks for all your replies. Plants had not been moved from greenhouse but maybe they got fraught from door opened or window left opened, so fingers crossed they will be ok.

I have several young potted up tomato plants in the greenhouse but some of them are losing colour on some of the leaves turning white patches. Also some of them are turning slightly purple under the leaves. I am hoping this is not a virus as I have several other plants in with them - cue, chillies, peppers etc.

capillary matting

I purchased some capillary matting from Aldi's but it is very thick and does not seem to absorb the water. Does anyone know a good capillary matting to use for greenhouse whilst on holiday?

Water the garden from water butt

Posted: 12/05/2012 at 13:00

Obviously this is not needed at the moment, but could I use a pressure sprayer (Hoselock etc) to water the garden?. I want to use the water from water butt but watering cans do not hold much water and have to keep refilling and carrying to garden. Also thought a sprayer would be better for neighbours to use if we are on holiday and it does not rain but still have hosepipe ban, but don't know if these would be suitable, and do not want to spend too much.

Anyone know which is the best capillary  matting to use in greenhouse, I bought some last  year but it is very thick and does not work properly.

New to this, but just wondered does the Gardeners World magazine do special offers for subscribers to the Gardeners World NEC exhibition in June?
