Bare root geraniums

Many thanks to you all for the advice.  Believe I will put them in pots for the winter as we have had a lot of rain and the garden is soggy.   Roll on spring!

Bare root geraniums

I ordered some geraniums and they came today.  They were bought from Morgan and Thompson but when they came they were bare root plants (I thought they would be plug plants) and the paperwork that came with them did not say whether to put them into pots for the winter or put them straight into the ground and if I put them in the ground do I cover them completely.  Any help would be appreciated please.

Have had a day out in Bridlington, the weather was warm and sunny, hardly any wind.  Stopped on the way home for fish and chips, not really a Sunday lunch but very enjoyable.

I 'm confused now, I always thought buddlia was cut back to the ground in May and just trimed to stop wind rock over the winter.  Is it better to cut right back now?

We have two cats Tom and Tigga both black and both 11 years old (not from the same litter though). Tom's large and chunky and tigga is the opposite, thin and small but since he was diagnosed with a Thyroid problem he has put a bit of weight on.  Tom is as good as gold but Tigga has what seems like an extra long tail and has a tendency to knock everything off or over with it.

I have been using this forum for two or three months now and wish I had known about it earlier.  I have asked several questions and have had plenty of advice and information and have also enjoyed reading other peoples problems and about their gardens.  Cannot thank everyone enough.

I hate to admit it but I have been throwing the fruit away, but not any more.  Next year I shall be saving every fruit that is on the plants and trying the receipes and tips you have all kindly given.  Figrat your jars look delicious thanks for the photo.

Have just got round to watching Gardeners World on iplayer and Monty saying how Quince is the nicest fruit and can be added to stewed apple, but what I don't know is the fruits are so hard, you cann't chop them so do you stew them first?  Loved watching Carol and the clematis.

They say if you want to remember something, associate it with something similar that you will remember.  Don't know if it works, but good luck with the degree.

Many thanks for all the replies and especially to Figrat for the recipes.  I will certainly try to make jam next year.  With the fruits being so hard I supposed they couldn't be used for anything (do they soften eventually?).  Will hope for plenty of flowers next year so that I can try out the receipes.  Again many thanks.
