Hi Leonard - heucheras can be very susceptible to vine weevil damage, especially if they're in pots. The young ones chew through the roots and leave the plant 'detached'. Oftem you see nothing until the plant just collapses. Could that be what's happened?
Fortunately, heucheras will regrow from the tiniest bit of root, so all is not lost if that's the case.
If you can upload a photo here that would help tooSee original post
That is exactly what has happened.
Is there any thing I can do to stop the pesky varmint?.

I have a problem with Heuchera plant, it seems to have rotted at the base.
It was grown in a general All purpose fertiliser.

Ladybird and Bob the gardener, thank you for your advice, I will try Nematodes and the different varieties for next year.

I hope some one can help me.
I have had an allotment for the last 9 years and no matter what I do my Potatoes always have holes in from insects, worms etc.
My question is, does any one know how I can eradicate this?.

Thank you for the advice. I never thought of covering them while hardening off, I will check the plants today for eggs and Caterpillars, also I will put slug pellets down too.
Once again, thank you.

Can any one help me with a problem I have had for the last 2 years with Young Spring cabbage plants.
I planted them out in October of both years after hardening them off, but each year they have been attacked by what looks like Caterpillars.
I have covered them this year with a really fine mesh but this has not stopped whatever it is that is causing the problem.
Any advise or Ideas would be really helpfull.
