It is much milder here this morning - snow has just about gone I am going in the greenhouse while Barry and my nephew ( both plumbers) start on the plumbing for the new shower room

What veggies are you planning on growing 2013?

I loved your story about your nephew Sam
I grow my Peppers in flower buckets and usually get a good crop.I feed them the same as tomatoes.
I wonder which varieties you have been growing? Two varieties that I like to grow are Tasty Red and Tasty Yellow Grill - they are the long Peppers.Jumbo Sweet is also good
Forgive me of I am telling you something you already know but Parsnips etc. will fork if grown in newly manured soil.
Has no-one googled my Peter Peppers yet

Hello Big gav I grow Cape Gooseberies every year -they are easy to grow from seed- I sow mine in feb/mar This year I am also going to try growing Cucamelons- I bought the seeds from the James Wong collection of seeds.

Looking after an orchid

Hello Lisa My instinct is that because the orchid has been repotted it may be getting too much water at this time of year.It is a lovely orchid and you have repotted it at the correct time into the right compost.If it was mine I would go really easy on the watering for a while -maybe mist the plant with some cooled boiled water rather than watering it -then hopefully when new leaves appear they will be fine. I have to confess that I have an orchid that is over 10years old and it has never been repotted but still flowers each year-it appears to thrive on neglect!
