Morning  It isn't snowing yet so we are venturing to Sainsburys at 7am and will hopefully be back home before it starts.

I hope everyone who has to travel today has a safe journey and that everyone keeps warm

Hello to our new Forkers

Good afternoon everyone  You are making me nervous talking about all this weather - I popped into Sainsburys this morning for milk and bread but am intending to do my 'big shop' as usual tomorrow I hope we don't get snow

Barry is amusing himself by knocking the downstairs bathroom to bits - about time - we have had the new toilet, basin and shower base in our bedroom for about 4 years

I am having fun ordering all my seeds and plants

Keep warm

Could be- perhaps try to just half fill the tin and see what happens the only other thing that makes cakes sink is using too much baking powder but your recipe didn't mention baking powder.
Did you make your scones?

Oh Do you have 2 sandwich tins you could put the mixture inif they are about 6" ones? I can't see that you are doing anything wrong. I cook my cakes on no.4 middle shelf for about the same time as you - When I think they are nearly ready I press the top gently - it should spring back when cooked.

Becks - you say a cake tin - do you mean a deep cake tin or a sandwich cake tin?

If you are using an ordinary cake tin the cake would take longer to cook  Your recipe is fine

Greenhouse heating / winter growing

Posted: 14/01/2013 at 19:12

Hello Yvonne  I am lucky in that I have 3 greenhouses - they are my passion If I can help you in any way I would be glad to

I heat one of my greenhouses over winter - with a thermostatically controlled electric heater. The amount of plants I have in there justifies the cost to me

I usually start my seed sowing in February - aubergines, peppers and chillies. Don't be too eager to start sowing - seeds sown a bit later always seem to catch early ones up
