Was going to say the same.  If they are old flowers you need to deadhead these to keep the plant flowering.  Also dahlias do not need a lot of watering.  I think if overwatered the buds may rot.

Sorry didnt finish .......mine were in full sun and they were outside all year.  They die back in the winter but come back in spring.  They survived heavy snow and cold conditions.

I bought 2 of these a few years ago.  They make very attractive plants but take up a lot of room.  I ended up digging mine up to be honest.

Hi  Caroline CB.  Not sure about woodruff but it definately not cleavers.  Cleavers is the stuff that sticks to you.

This is also my first year of growing potatoes.  I have some in a bag and some in the ground.  Can anyone tell me when is the best time to dig them up.  They are first earlies.  Do you have to wait until they have flowered?
