Anyone done any gardening today - version 3

Posted: 03/02/2018 at 15:09

Blimey, you've been busy.  I felt quite pleased with myself for doing a bit of weeding and clearing last year's soggy geraniums before they start sprouting again.

I cut back last year's aster stems too, although I hope I haven't done that a bit too early having just seen the forecast for Glasgow for the next few days.

What is your favourite plant?

My favourite changes depending on what looks good at the moment.  Just now it's the wee helibore niger with it's lovely white flowers.  Next week it'll be the miniature irises which are popping through the ground and shortly after that it'll be the big purply-red helibores which are about to start flowering.

I wouldn't be without a geranium or three, I have a wee alba which hopefully has survived the winter along with brookside and a couple of others.

Poppy season

I think it depends on the weather.  I have a bud on mine again, only one though, after a gorgeous display of 15 or so flowers earlier in the year.  :)

Moving hardy geranium

I dug up, divided and replanted one of mine last weekend and it's producing some new growth again already.

Does anyone know what this is?

Definitely not a weed - the bees will love it!

It's really pretty, whatever it is called.

Avocado

Guacamole is my favourite thing to make with avocado.  I don't know how many sprouting seeds I've come across in my compost bin.  I'll need to save one or two and try growing them on.

I have to agree with you LL. Whether you have a lot of knowledge or not -  isn't it nice just to enjoy watching something pleasant with no shouting and yelling or loud music in the background!

I must be getting old...

Nonsense.  If you're getting old that means I am too.
