i grow all mine in plastic containers. the first time i used the plastic flower buckets you can buy from supermarkets for about a £1 for ten one plant each pot, 2013 i used these plastic containers that had contained food supplements for sheep our neighbour was glad to be rid of them, one plant each pot but this year i will plant two in each pot

 oh made holes for drainage, layer of rotted manure,layer of compost,one or two pots cover with compost and then earth up as you would in the ground.

i didnt use new bought compost, some was saved from tubs and baskets last year some home made. i also planted some in August because oh wanted some with Christmas dinner and we ate the last ones yesterday

Thats the one zoomer, i go to Hayes sometimes for a look round, Halecat and Summerdale are good proper nurserys and beetham grow some of there own plants but i do try to grow from seed or cuttings if i can

Thanks Zoomer i will just go to beetham nursery as usual then, i live near Kendal so Lancaster not so far. we sometimes come to a nursery on the way to Glasson dock cant remember what its called, near the golf club, cafes good as well

sorry cant remember when i sowed the seed (see new year resolution thread)

i remember planting very deep and firming in well the second time but didnt do anything else differant it was perhaps all the rain we had early summer

i always net my brassicas as soon as they are planted

i will let you know how i get on this year

i am going to keep a journal for my vegetables, i never remember when i have sown seed or planted out.

i am going to lable all plants in pots because despite thinking i will remember i never do.
