compost dilema

Posted: 07/02/2015 at 15:46

I used to have two rotory bins they were rubbish, heavy to turn and just rolled everything into a soggy great solid lump.

i don't turn my dalek things because I am lucky to have the space  for four and it takes about nine month to make usable compost + I just don't have the energy to do it now

There is a perennial dahlia that is hardy here up north it's "merkii" it's not easy to come by probably because it dosnt have very showy flowers

Anyone done any gardening today?

Well the ground is still frozen hard so I can't do anything in the garden but it has been warmer today so with luck we might have a thaw coming. I have sown my sweet peas today and admired my heap of some lovely cow manure from one of my farming neighbours, not ready yet but it will be in autumn

This year I have not given them as much water or feed while the stems have been growing I think that may have made them stronger, the leaves are a nuisance but I have put the pots into wine boxes I had given and I'm pleased with the way they look grouped together

I can turn each pot in the box unfortunately I can't turn this picture round

Vera has four trumpets open with one more to come, red nymph has two with one to come and the white one at the back I think is jewel has three not quite open yet and one more in that box that I hope is black pearl

How/where to cut this rose bush please?

I agree with Salino, I use blood fish and bone in spring but you can get fertiliser especially for roses
