The leaves often seem to look scabby and unhealthy especially when young but it doesn't seem to effect them. We grow them in ericacous soil in a netted covered building. They do seem to dry out quite easily. If you didn't know they had such a beautiful flower you wouldn't bother. Been advise to nip out flowers in first year. Am in the north so seem to like it!

HIgh up in North of England seem perfectly hardy even in pots.

I had the same problem with morrison bullbs. Blocks of colour weren't blocks of colour!

Tritilaria is maybe blue thing that name changed is a summer flowering bulb.

Thalictrum's are good, hardy and easy and under rated.

Not true alpines I expect:

Phlox (subulata?) often sold as alpine/ground cover Phlox are good in Spring, rather unbeatable but struggle with them browning off?

Lysimachia nummularia aurea- Gold nice foliage

Nepeta Grannilocks- Good varieagated foliage.
