The best multi purpose compost this year

Posted: 05/04/2013 at 09:46

What's even more puzzling is that 'Which? Gardening' list Verve from B&Q in their top four - **** /88-91% test score.  Just goes to show its always good to know opionions from those who actually use the product.  I have bought Verve again this year and find it to be much the same as it always is, but in the past I haven't really been a 'serious' gardener, but now I'm paying more attention maybe it will realise its short comings.

Go for it RD - your plants will be far more interesting and colourful than lawn.  I have an area of lawn which I am itching to get borders dug into - had hoped to make a start last year but it never stopped raining.

Advice on growing Raspberries

Thanks chica.  I believe my raspberries are a summer fruiting variety.  I haven't cut them down at all after planting and they're about 15" - 18" high and lots of new shoots appearing.  I'll just put some bamboo canes in and leave them to do their thing.

Advice on growing Raspberries

Hi all, Just hoping some of you knowledgeable, experienced gardeners can offer me some advice on growing raspberries. I have been given 10 plants which I have planted and a line, spaced about 15" apart.  I know I need to provide some support, and to add some manure, but that is about all I know.  What kind of support do I need to use.  The variety is 'Glen Clova'.  Would appreciate your advice.

WEATHER this week

Furness Peninsula, South Cumbria:  Beautiful blue sky and sunshine, not sure what the temperature is but it's definately warmer than yesterday, probably becasue the wind has dropped.  BBC weather tells me we are due to reach 5 degs today and I think they will be right - hurrah!!

We seem to be getting away with the worst of the weather.  Bitterly cold (just below freezing about an hour ago) but we do have blue sky and sunshine and a few grey/white clouds. Which is in contract to 5 miles up the coast where they have had a covering of  snow overnight.  Hope I have spoken too soon!

Talkback: Early seed sowing

Ballydavis, I have heard of planting at the time of a full moon, and was thinking of doing that this year as I get 'hit and miss' results with my seeds.
