Geoff is now taking himself off to have a cold shower!

Talking of showers, I still haven't done the sealant around the bath ready for the new shower (which is already installed) - I know I'm procrastinating!

Today's dinner is going to be what we can find in the fridge/freezer. A joint of beef, home grown squash, some parsnips, carrot and swede. And some roast potatoes. I'm hoping son, no. 2 will do most of the cooking!

Its most likely going to be Spain again for our abroad trip this year. As we can get free accommodation it makes sense! Cheap flights and cheap car hire. Plus we can explore the area more. We also want to do a few mini-breaks and visit some NT places.

Been pottering round the house this morning then took son no. 3 to work and did a detour to the large GC on my way back as its only 3 minutes from the school. I've come home with a bag of seed and cutting compost - but its frozen solid at the moment! I don't intend to sow anything yet (except maybe a couple of pepper seeds) - just as well really.

Son no. 2 is muttering that he's bored so I've suggested he go and do some baking. He's now moaning that he can't find the baking book but he had it last......

Fine snow is falling here and has been for most of the morning. Not enough to make it difficult for me to get to work though!

I had a navy gaberdine mac. You can't get them any more.

Since that 1963 winter at least outdoor clothing has improved considerably.

Inka, that makes sense - to close the schools when it wouldn't be safe for the kids to travel or to be there. There has been some unwarranted criticism of teachers about the school closures here yesterday, but when travelling conditions are getting worse as time goes on it makes sense.

Must go to bed!

I didn't have a liberty bodice, I had a horrible yellowy woolly vest which itched - didn't wear it for long, as it was too uncomfortable (I still can't wear wool next to my skin) and then I had lovely smooth cotton vests.

Dubai airport is more like a shopping mall than an airport, from what I remember.

I heard recently that at Ronnie Barker's memorial service instead of the usual 2 candles the vergers carried four candles as a tribute. How sweet.

I don't remember the winter of 62-63 as I was only very little, but my Mum said she doesn't remember it being that bad - but then her memory isn't that great at the best of times! I do remember skirts of a miniscule nature! There are even some pictures somewhere

I heard a bit of that Jeremy Vine show - am sure he put the phone down on one very opinionated caller. Quite right too, the bloke was talking rubbish and was aggressive with it.

Caz, I have to admire their cheek to be honest!

Inka, I've not done any baking either. Been too busy peeling sealant from around the bath ready to put the new stuff on tomorrow. One of those jobs I really wish I hadn't started.....

Must be time for a cup of tea, and I'm sure there are some muffins somewhere -unless the boys ate them all!!

Been out in the snow to clean out the chicken house, (my fingers and feet got very cold - now I remember why I didn't like snow as a kid!)  and taken son no. 3 to work -  the road out of the estate is still a skating rink but the main roads are fine at the moment.

Kate, the forecast is for more snow tomorrow afternoon for the South East. Will that do you?

I'm here. Been busy doing chores this morning, fed the birds (tame and wild) and found some eggs! I didn't think any of my chooks were laying so hadn't checked the nest box, but one must be! Good girl!!

Just discovered I've run out of washing powder. Something I'm sure Jo would never allow to happen!

Snowing slightly at the moment.
