Happy St David's Day to everyone. I've been to Llanfair PG. I also learned how to say it. I love Wales, so does my Mum - she was evacuated there during the war.

Goldi, happy birthday! I also did my degree in Wales. The bit of family history I'm researching at the moment is for a Welsh name but so far I've not found the Welsh connection - have traced it to Devon! Most of the people I've found have been living in London and home counties. Yesterday I got an email from someone who is distantly related to me - we have a common ancestor - in my case 5 generations ago.  

We got Alfie a kong (its a chewy toy) and within a day it had disappeared, I strongly suspect its in one of my raised beds!

Not asleep, just been finding more ancestors! About to go home and get ready for Cubs in a minute though. Don't think we are doing anything too exciting this week. Might have to organise a game or two.

Hello all - just taken me ages to catch up (my fault for being awol for the last day or so!).

So, briefly - I've been to Tresco twice on holiday and to the Abbey gardens - stunning from what I can remember but it was a long time ago on family holidays and I didn't appreciate it enough!

I was a Brownie - a Gnome - nuff said!

I have an unofficial summer birthday as mine is very close to Christmas. I recommend it!

My brother has just texted me to say they're finally letting him out of hospital tomorrow. Progress at last. I may be collecting him, will find out later.

And I realised I live very close to Crocus. Their next open day is on 13th April. If anyone fancies going you can come to mine for tea and cake after!

I think I have found two more generations back - and I''m now in Devon - quite a surprise as the surname is Welsh! Either that or I'm following up the wrong family!! Wouldn't surprise me. Also I wish people could have had a little more imagination - it seems all first born sons were given the same name as their fathers, or the names reversed.

Must stop now, its son no. 2's birthday tomorrow so I've got to source a cake.

One of the cubs had a really nice pair of Ecco boots that fitted me (he's 9!!) so I've told him to give them to me when he grows out of them!

MOB rants

Ah, the menopause! Don't get me started on that one!! I was always lovely and slim until that happened - or was it the interest in cake I developed? Even my mother commented the other day on my jelly roll!

Ok have caught up on all the posts. Sue -ouch! Poor you, hope it mends quickly.

I'm a trainers girl - actually most of the time I wear walking shoes. Never wear heels. I've got some of those sandals, they're very comfortable.

Damp and miserable here, so am not going out. Might spend my lunch hour doing some more research.
