I've had a lovely dinner (partly cooked by me and partly by son no. 3) and actually feel much better. Just about to watch Death in Paradise (recorded it as OH wanted to watch the thing about the war in Malta on iplayer). Then off to bed for hopefully a better night's sleep. Will probably go back to work tomorrow.

Dove, poor you, you do seem to be having a rough start to the new year. Hugs to you.

Hello all. Back in the land of the living today, after a very grotty day yesterday. Still snotty and woolly headed but feeling brighter. I got so hot at one point yesterday I went outside to cool off - in my pyjamas. Good job my garden isn't overlooked!

Watched the Tasmania footage - so scary! I bet none of those children forget that experience in a hurry. Thank goodness the grandparents kept their cool and found an escape route.

Inka, enjoy downton, hope we haven't put any spoilers on here! Don't think we did.
Manservant has been good (and boyservant). Have been brought hot blackcurrant and drugs and tea and toasted muffins.
Countryfile on now.

Done nothing today so far. I am watching recorded stuff on TV. Having trouble with my temperature, keep getting hot which is so unusual for me! I am normally a cold soul!
Feel ok one minute then grotty the next. All very strange.

Hi KG, hope alls well with you!
I am coughing and spluttering a bit today so am taking it easy-plus have a husky voice. A day on the sofa seems like a good plan to be honest. A friend just called round, she is off to the shops, I was not tempted to go!
Alfie has decided he needs to keep me company. Would be ok if he kept still for more than 5 seconds at a time.

Am in bed but just caught up on todays posts. Not been feeling all that great today or yesterday, mild flu symptoms, a bit achy, tired, coughing, like I'm about to come down with something but am fighting it off!
Did manage a trip to the GC today though and came back with the jumper I'd been eyeing up for ages!
Better get some sleep now, night all!

Looks like she's not resting then Jo!

Had lunch - be good to yourself soup - spicy tomato and lentil - and a slice of thickly buttered toast!

Have a box of old videos in the car boot - on their way to the charity shop or tip - but they've been there a couple of weeks at least!

Morning all. Am at work (and have been for a while) but not feeling great. Vague flu-like symptoms, various aches, etc. I hope I'm not coming down with something - have managed to avoid all the lurgies so far.

Good news on Grandad, he's managed to eat and drink something and the hospital are talking about sending him home some time next week when he's stronger. He's a trooper! (And is lucky he doesn't live in Liverpool!)

Geoff, those programmes like to focus on the negatives - wouldn't be a story otherwise. They know we like a bit of doom and gloom!

I've recorded the Queen Vic's children programmes but not watched them yet.

Becks, Jess will be a computer whizz kid by the age of 5!

Or lots of ebay listings Geoff - some people pay good money for tat - as seen on Flog it!

I have a couple of yuccas. OH says we should have planted them under the windows, as they would make an excellent burglar deterrent. Might mean the windows never get cleaned though.

You could put in a series of arches making a walkway to the front door.

No news so far on Grandad, but when you're 100 years old any illness is cause for concern.

Phillipa Gregory wrote 'The Other Boleyn Girl' didn't she? As well as other novels set in that era. Have read a couple of her books.

Have watched the Ripper street but not the Stephen King scary thing yet.

My decs will have to stay until the weekend now as I'm back at work. Very quiet here though, I have to say. And it was a struggle getting up this morning!
