Penninepetal, am glad the small thing got rescued. I couldn't rescue the one Alfie caught in the garden recently.

I drove to Portsmouth and back last night. The things we do for our offspring! Still, I enjoyed going through the tunnel in both directions.

My plan for lunchtime today is to sit and eat an ice cream and do a bit of feeding and watering and nothing else. Its too warm for digging or weeding (I have decided!)

Kate you have to be joking. He can treat himself to a long weekend in Majorca but can't even treat us to a bottle of milk! I nearly fell off my chair when we were bought a chocolate chick at Easter - he sent someone else out to buy it but at least he paid for it.

Haunted hosepipe perhaps? Have heard of TV's coming on by themselves but not hoses.

I have set LYG to record this evening as I will be out and about.

Geoff, clothes optional but I suggest something to protect against the nettles and brambles. Sun hats will do if no hard hats are available.

Didn't get an ice cream so I will get one later when I'm out and about.

I am off to play in the sun again for a little while.

Elf and safety have told me that field trips to the allotment are only allowed if all attendees wear hard hats and steel toecap boots. Didn't mention anything else. Chocolate brownies will be acceptable as payment. Barry's allotment is the one that wins prizes though. Mine is more 'wild'!!

Can I resist buying myself an ice cream at lunchtime??

Kate I agree, after digging its essential to have a piece of cake. And I've heard that about lilies - but I've added a couple more recently.

OH was so impressed with Pam and Barry's garden he wants to visit another open garden next weekend.

It wasn't quite a tour de woking but I'm working on it! Nowhere near as fit as I ought to be.

I'm wondering if the bronzed adonis has got his speedos out yet!

I am just off to play in the sunshine for a little while but I'm not sure I can cope - I might have wellie-boot withdrawal symptoms!

Kate it was a lovely day out - forgot to say earlier Pam is lovely. We cycled there so I'm sure I burned off all the calories from the cake!

I have seen Pam's garden!! I have to say its totally amazing, and so beautiful - OH came with me and we were both wandering round going 'wow, look at that! 'look at that!' Pam even gave me a cutting to take home. Have to say the coffee cake and fruit cake were both lovely too. I might have to pop in for more cuttings.......those fuchsias are spectacular.

I have taken some photos so hopefully will post some on here when I've got them off the camera. Got home and looked round our somewhat tatty garden and decided we need to do a lot of work!

Geoff, haven't read it but I've heard its a bit naughty. Maybe I should leave now, go and buy a copy and lie on the sofa to read it. Kate says I can!

FloBear, I will be having warm beetroot salad - boiled beetroots served still warm with new potatoes and whatever salad leaves are available. Sprinkle the beets with balsamic vinegar - yummy. I will also add a couple of hard boiled eggs and a blob of mayonnaise on the side.

Not sure about beetroot jam!

Geoff that is not normal for your potatoes but then its not been a normal year. Some of my main crop have yellowed as well.

Am hoping we don't have to wait 3 months for the jam - the scones will be stale by then!

I am presuming Kate will be sharing her god fortune so I shall be packing as well shortly. Oh no, just scratched my face without thinking! Its now really itchy again.

Jo, I am going to put a bird seed feeder up in the garden - will see what happens. My favourite jam is strawberry by the way but any variety will do!

I harvested 3 lovely beetroots at the plot today - so will have to have them over the weekend. My potato crop is disappointing as some of the plants have rotted. Some are doing ok so all is not lost but I feel I might have to relinquish my crown as potato queen
