I have decided I am a failure as a gardener - I cannot grow radishes!!  tidied up the raised beds yesterday and realised my radish crop is a disaster. I fed the plants to the chickens.

Cleaned out the chicken run yesterday - it was a bit of a bog in there, poor things. They had a roam around the garden while I did that. Also I got up a ladder and chopped back some of the virginia creeper that is threatening to engulf the house.

I survived a mass invasion of in-laws on Saturday for OH's birthday tea. There is no cake left though...

Geoff, it was like that in Spain - OH and I in shorts and teeshirts and the locals in thick sweaters!

I have requested porridge for breakfast when we go on camp.

Dinner tonight - sausages, new potatoes, beans or peas.

Got to shop at lunchtime instead of dig - OH has decided he wants a birthday tea so I have lots of in-laws turning up tomorrow. The present has arrived from Amazon I'm pleased to say!

I didn't see the rat again today, but no doubt its around somewhere - along with all its brothers and sisters! I read today a single pair of rats can multiply to 200 within a year (but am guessing they'd have to be a girl rat and a boy rat!!!) A bit like the greenfly - born on Sunday and a grandfather by Wednesday!

I went out and thought I had timed it really well as Mr and Mrs PP were leaving just as I arrived at the plot - but the rain caught me out. So not much achieved today, and my plastic coldframe which I had planned to move and reassemble today is still in bits.

The tomato plants I have in my plastic growhouse don't seem to be doing anything at all - they aren't even getting any bigger. Its frustrating.

Can you sort out my chicken pen while you'e waving those power tools about please? Its getting to be a bit of a quagmire in there, and the girls aren't allowed out to play at this time of year because they eat all the stuff I'm growing in the garden. Its normally not a problem!

Local weather updates seem to be very inaccurate for here. A big black cloud is approaching. I had to go out and do a delivery this morning and the heavens opened when I was going down the motorway. Delightful - torrential rain and spray.

Had a parcel delivered recently for stuff ordered from ebay and the delivery company sent a mail with the time slot of one hour for the delivery - very helpful! I'm waiting on a delivery from Amazon - birthday present for OH, but no. 2 son is at home to receive it (I hope!)

I watched LYG and agree, money no object. Unrealistic for most of us!

@David K - I sowed late as well as I went away, but even so they should be further on than they are now. Certainly don't look like your picture! I'm normally inundated with beans but I guess that won't happen this year.

Yep, Federer has gone! Off to win another tournament probably.

The ants will just relocate. Worse than that though, I'm sure I saw a rat when I was at the plot!

Looking quite bright here at the moment - I might manage a dry trip to the plot! Have lots of weeding to do - the weeds like the rain. Runner beans are still only halfway up the poles though, and only a couple of flowers. They are normally well away by now.

I left the lid off the coldframe and the ants nest seems to have got washed away!
