Geoff, watch out for reporters standing outside just to show how wet and windy it is.

Pam - I don't see why they were cancelled, we've all got the same conditions to work with! Is your open garden still going ahead? (Hope so!) I keep looking at those new allotments when I drive past - things are taking shape, its no longer a sea of mud.

Woo2, yes its a big birthday, one of those with a 0 at the end!

Kate, should have asked you!

I am beginning to agree with Kate's mum. My tomatoes stand no chance.

I am a bit disappointed tonight. The friend who offered to do my party invites has done them and sent them out - with no date on them and the wrong email address. Wish I'd done them myself now! If anyone turns up for this party it will be a miracle. Am leaving nothing else to chance now and will oversee every detail personally!

Smallswan, I say that every year! Especially with the allotment. I've just heard though that this year's borough allotment competition has been cancelled - due to the hosepipe ban! I wonder if Lilylouise knows, as I know her OH wins prizes.

Think I might ask for some waterproof trousers for my birthday.

I had better go and batten down some hatches.

I do not have waterproof trousers. I now have wet jeans on just to prove it. Should have listened to Geoff and stayed indoors but then those french beans wouldn't have got planted, those 4 slugs wouldn't have got chopped, those 4 snails wouldn't have got stamped on and those 4 strawberries wouldn't have got picked and eaten.

Smallswan, take your waterproofs.....

Kate, I have failed too.

FloBear, please do! Was always shortened to Lottie before we moved to this site. Are you Flo?

Jo, just goes to show that things can move entirely independently!

It is wet out there now, should I risk a trip to the plot? Do I want to plant stuff in the rain? Would save having to water of course!

Geoff, may not have time to attempt that quiz - I am supposed to be working remember!

FloBear, maybe not far enough.....

Kate, thanks, silver pashmina sounds perfect. I have silver shoes.

Frank, you're right, can't beat nature. OH's old car that hasn't moved for years is slowly being absorbed back into the natural vegetation. I'm hoping it will disappear completely.

Not just food and dresses - have been known to buy netting and bulbs! Thermals on standby!

Jo, half birthday idea works for me because I've done it for years and years (started in my teens). Sunny here at the moment but I bet it won't be by the time I finish work.

Yes, the dress does have flowers on! Just wondering what I can wear with it if its cold...

Geoff, can you plant up some containers for me too? Would like lots of pink for my party. Does Margaret have a union rep?
