For the first year ever I bought tomato plants from jersy rather than my own seed . I bought 6 plants and ended up with 30 odd plants  by planting on the bits I remove from the leaf axels . (Cordon ) They are sweet  , a lovely tomato and were ready 10 weeks after planting in pots I have been picking tomatoes from end of June . I shall do the same next year

This year  my Clemetis in a pot started to look realy poorly its one I put in 2 yr ago . I cut it back to soil level and gave it water each day  .It was not long before it sent up thick new growth . But mine could have been Clemetis wilt .

My mum grew her Iris in big clumps under her monkey puzzle , admitted they were short lived with the flower but the sword shaped leaves continued to be effective.

waterbutts I cannot see any brown mushrooms , going to check the soil when it is cooler this evening . But for now,  this is some of its history.

It is about 50 years old ( it was inherited )  and about 35 foot .

The only thing  I can think of it  could  have been hit with  :  is a lawn mower  but even that I am not sure . We have been here for 15 yrs . and it looked okay then . But each year it has always  produced  nuts in 3 stages / forms .  we get the june drop ,which is normal . then around september they start falling . some  walnuts that have  not produced or formed properly . (1) It is a jelly like  stuff inside (2)  or a black dry skin over the nut itself . The nuts with the black skin is white nut inside and eatable . (3) Then we get the very enjoyable walnut  ,  crisp white nut  with a moist  thin pealable skin . And these are lovely .

Sorry MACAVITYTHECAT,  We all have differant opinions on the grey squirrel . The grey squirrel is a tree rat and vermin .

They were introduced into this country and are wiping out our own gentle red squirrel .

where we used to live they got into the roofs after doing damage , then chewing the electric wires  , they did so much damage . Even to the new houses . As the problem of the squirrels increased, to them breeding in the oak trees again  doubleing there numbers  one neighbor phoned the envoirament section of our council.

The short answer he got was " do you know anyone with a gun ? "
