Do I plant my biennial bellis daisy out or keep it inside?

Posted: 20/01/2014 at 11:31

Potting them up sounds like a good idea, I'll do that and wait for a bit.  They are in such shallow soil in the tray it keeps drying out  so bigger pots should help.

I know I should of planted them out in the autumn but the plants didn't look strong enough so I kept them indoors.  Do I wait for some frost free days and plant them out now or just wait for spring?  Will they still flower?  Photo below.

Can you identify this rose please?

Thanks for your replies.  I can smell other roses but nothing from this one.

I was trying to identify it so that I know whether to treat it like a shrub or attach it to the fence like a climber.  The stems are very long (2 - 3 metres) and hang down so do I assume it is a climber? Thanks

It has been flowering for a couple of months and has no fragrance that I can smell.  I'm not sure if it is a climber (it hangs down rather and is propped up with bamboo) or a shrub that needs serious pruning.

Thanks, looks interesting.

Thanks, I'll water, mulch and wait.  That's great if it isn't about to keel over and die.  I've got a clematis armandii nearby that is mostly brown now, I don't think will last long and I don't want to be back to bear fence in a few weeks!

Thanks once again.

What is Beechgrove?

I have watered it every day when there has been no rain but the soil does look very dry quickly.  Do I spray it with the anti-fungus chemical now?

My spring planted honeysuckle developed pale patches on some leaves (mostly near the fence) and I gave it a slow release fertiliser (Q4) assuming it was a deficiency.  I think it might now have powdery mildew.

Do I treat it for mildew and hope for the best or does it need more drastic treatment?  Also, I have some sunflowers planted right by it that have done well but also have pale edges to their leaves, is this normal and was it a bad idea to put sunflowers near the honeysuckle?

Can you identify this plant and is it ill/deficient?

I don't think it is a choisya, it has proper woody branches and I don't think it is evergreen.  I'll give it lots of food and see what happens, quite a few of the leaves are looking brown now so it is on the critical list anyway!

Thanks for solving this one.
