two-problems-with-my-honeysuckle

I have watered it every day when there has been no rain but the soil does look very dry quickly.  Do I spray it with the anti-fungus chemical now?

Thanks

My spring planted honeysuckle developed pale patches on some leaves (mostly near the fence) and I gave it a slow release fertiliser (Q4) assuming it was a deficiency.  I think it might now have powdery mildew.

Do I treat it for mildew and hope for the best or does it need more drastic treatment?  Also, I have some sunflowers planted right by it that have done well but also have pale edges to their leaves, is this normal and was it a bad idea to put sunflowers near the honeysuckle?

 Thanks

Can you identify this plant and is it ill/deficient?

I don't think it is a choisya, it has proper woody branches and I don't think it is evergreen.  I'll give it lots of food and see what happens, quite a few of the leaves are looking brown now so it is on the critical list anyway!

Thanks for solving this one.

Thanks franco6832 and Busy-Lizzie, it does look like Magnolia stellata from images on the web.

Is it worth persisting with this or is it always a battle with plants that like acid soil?  I think I might have three other magnolias, one standard only started getting leaves a few weeks ago!

Thanks Salino, I should have said it has got sticky out bits in the centre - sorry about the non-specialist language!

The leaves are lime green, I thought this was normal but as my sunflowers nearby are not doing well I'm now wondering if the soil is the problem.  No flowers so far this year.  We are in chalky soil - Chilterns.

Thanks

clematis infected

I posted about blackened growing tips on my armandii apple blossom a month or so ago:

http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/problem-solving/clematis-armandii---what-is-the-problem/81787.html

I still don't know the problem, I pulled off the black growing tips and some of the buds by the leaves are getting bigger so I'm hoping it will start growing again.  I put it down to cold winds as it is by a windy side passage to our house but your post suggests otherwise.  It does now have a few brown leaves so perhaps I'll go out and have a more thorough check!

Clematis armandii - what is the problem?

It is the growing tips that are the problem, they are black as you can see in the second picture.  The plant overall looks fine although with some black leaf tips.  Is this wind burn or over enthusiastic watering?

Thanks for any advice.

I planted it about six weeks ago and it did well until a week or so ago when we had some quite strong winds.  Is this wind burn and will it start growing from lower down?  We are in the Chilterns.

Thanks
