I was given some seeds of limnanthes, fried egg plants which I believe are loved by bees. Can anyone tell me when to plant them please and do I need to chill them first?

Flowers

Strewberry your pics are inspiring, shows what can be done. I have a terrible slug and snail problem with no response to organic slug pellets. I think the slugs gobble them up too. Few thrushes and hedgehogs now, I put loads of slugs into my recycling bin but I think they find their way home again!

Comicifugas sounds much more fun, will google to see what the plant is like as I have not heard of it. My garden has been over run with slugs and snails this season so I guess any plant with spires will be devoured in bud.

Interesting article about the bees.I kept honeybees for many years but became allergic to the stings, loved it, fascinating hobby. Ivy flowers are about the last for the year, along with rosebay willow herb and the sedums. Fried egg plants from seed in spring drive bees to delirium, they love them. Spring crocus and snowdrops provide pollen for bumble bee rearing. Perennial geranium is another favourite with honeybees. Beg from friends Cia, more fun and cheaper.

Evergreen hedging query

I wonder if you would like laurel, mine is now eight feet high and makes a lovely background 'wall' to a border of colourful perennials and only needs trimming about every eighteen months.
