I received mine yesterday. I am just a beginner at gardening so do I need to pot them on in bigger pots? If I cant get them planted out this year how can I store them over winter I only have plastic green house's and a cold frame.

Thankyou sotongeoff. I have squished a few vine weevils lately but never knew they went for Hosta's! Will have to keep a closer eye on them to see if I can find the little buggers.

I have had an hosta in a pot for about 5 years now and it has always looked spectacular. I have always managed to keep the horrible slugs and snails off it, but this year something seems to be eating it alive! There has been about four leaves dropped off it and chunks eaten out of the leaves. I have checked daily over the last week and have not seen any signs of slugs, or snails the only thing I did see was what looked like a baby caterpiller but have only seen the one.Can anyone please advise me to what might be causing this problem and how I can treat it please Thank you..

Weejenny have you tried using the garlic wash? I have a real bad problem with slugs and snails but have used this over the past 2 weeks and although I still have some slugs/snails in my garden and yard I certainly dont have as many as I used to.

I am fairly new to gardening and was wondering if any one can tell me how many impatiens summer waterfall plants should be planted in an eight inch basket to give a nice display, last year my baskets looked a bit pathetic because i didnt plant enough plants in them and they didnt seem to bush out.

Mowing the lawn, but not the frogs!

I have an old container that I put in my yard about 2 years ago for the birds to bath in and they love it, we get frogs and newts in the garden and the yard so I put some old rocks in the container and around it in the hope that it would attract them. I now have a frog that has taken up residence over these past four days Can anyone tell me whether they think it will spawn or not and is there any thing I could do to encourage it to stay! Thanks.
