Ay up , a few experienced allotmentiers have put their first earlies in (south yorks) ! now i wouldn't dare say to them "is it too early" won't frost affect them ? what do you think ?

just found these pics from last year, promised myself wouldn't plant too early this year but planted even earlier 21st feb doh ! oh well only planted about 8-10 this year,if i'd have found these earlier wouldn't have asked about germination so put seed in 27 feb and the 1st pic was 7 mar that's 8 days , I put this years seeds in Saturday 21st feb nowt showing yet I think my compost was too cold , still time though,also the compost was left over from last year will it be ok ? cheers

hi there , just wondered how long it takes for tom seeds to mine on window sill in tray covered with plastic lid thingy,south facing sun all day radiator below,i know there's no exact time but roughly is it 5 days, 10 days ish or more,just in case I need to give up and start some more off, thx

Hi , what sweet melon do you recommend for growing in a greenhouse ? managed to get 2 off 2 plants last year , can't remember the type , and tbh didn't know what I was doing,any advice anyone ? thx (live in s.yorks)

to be honest i'm not sure , I want to surprise my partner with lots of different plants for the numerous pot's and baskets , i'm the fruit and veg guy and she buys all the pretty flowery plants , I love the plants but she usually picks them,.so I think things like lobelia ,pansies .. not sure.. pretty ones with nice flowers , I promise I will take more notice this year, I think i'll just go to garden centre and buy packets of pretty looking ones, ok thx anyway
