Growing tomatoe's indoors

last year i tried growing tomatoes in my front porch which is south facing and all glass on that side, but they became really spindly so I transferred them to the garden. You really need a green house with allround light.

Does anybody have a tried and tested way of getting rid of a tree stump and its roots? In my new garden is a stump which has been cut at ground level and is shooting out again. It looks like an arbutus which is much too big for this garden. I also want to plant something else there.

pruning a pear tree

I have inherited pear tree {not full size} which is about 2 or 3 years old. it had lots of blossom and pears formed but were lost in the winds we had earlier. it has put on alot of growth and is very leafy. I am dying to prune it but not sure when to or how. What should i aim for when pruning

Lily beetle

I was given the following recipe for a garlic wash for hostas. guess it wouild do the same for lillies
Crush 2 bulbs of garlic and steam or boil in 2 pints of water for a few minutes until blanched. Strain and top up to 2 pints,
Leave to cool and when ready to use, mix a tablespoon in a gallon of water and
spray on leaves in late afternoon in dry weather.
This will need repeating avery 2 weeks

Beware of Parkers Bulbs. .

ive had lots of bulbs fromparkers this year and all have grown well - though not yet flowered. but its early days yet

i had dahlias, crocosmia , gladioli, lilies, irises and alstromeria

i will order from them again
