I'd say that they need to be half buried at least and def warmer than the 8 degrees it currently is outside!

Cannas

Due to the crud weather and distinct lack of sun my cannas did not thrive sufficiently to flower.  Should i still cut them down and store for next year or will this harm the development of next years flowers?

Whilst walking around a garden centre on thursday night i was aware of an absolutely striking peachy coloured delphinum i think it was called Coral(e).  It was beautiful but i had left my money at home as i am lethal once i get started.

Since coming home i have been unable to find it anywhere or to gain any knowledge of its availablity.

If you know where i can find it in plant or seed please will you reply or email me

At one point as the back garden took so long to redesign we had been able to get our dogs to go to the toilet on command because they had to use the open front yard which of course was very public and not at all enclosed so was quite embarrasing having them pee and poop first thing in the morning in my jimmies so they had to hurry.

Wow - some excellent suggestions.  See three heads are better than one!

Dog Area

we have recently completely redesigned our garden dug it all back to scratch and we are left with one corner 4x8ft patch that is in dry shade on clay and is used by the dogs for toileting purposes.

They have been trained to use this area as we have a small garden and 2 children.

The dogs will only pee and poop on grass so we cannot gravel it but by the same token its currently an unsightly bald patch of mud where i doubt anything would grow any suggestions?

Talkback: Has spring sprung?

Posted: 12/01/2012 at 21:55

I think i remember doing this in 2009 it was very mild barely cold enough to need a caot and everything started sprouting then in february we eneded up with snow and late frosts and half my garden was plundered I'm taking care this year to make sure all is protected and or partially covered.

If you have a sense of humour you can buy willie chillies these are phalically shaped red chilles   I have no idea how they taste though.
