National Trust Butterfly Book

Posted: 16/06/2015 at 12:24

Hi, wonder if anyone can help. I'm after a book by the NT about butterflies. It was a large square book a coffee table book rather than a field guide. The cover looked like a wooden picture frame with butterflies pined to it. It was a great book that I have misled or lent and would like to see if I can get another copy. If anyone knows of it, if you could give me the title or ISBN number that would be appreciated. It most likely was published in the mid 90's. Thanks

Bedding Begonia plugs

Posted: 25/05/2015 at 12:03

Hi All

I have some bedding Begonia plugs in approx. 1" pots. They are filling the pots and have started to produce flowers, however I cannot see any roots appearing from the bottom of the pots.

Shall I still wait till the roots appear or do I  pot on?

Do you thing they are still to small at an 1" across to go straight into the flower bed?

new guinea impatient plug plants

Got my new guinea impatient plug plants yesterday. Left them in an unheated greenhouse last night. Came to pot them on this morning and a lot of them have gone Droopy. They were kept moist, do you think the cold night affected them? I hhave potted them on, will they recover?

seedlings grew very tall!

We start our French marigolds off in cell trays in the house, they do go a bit leggy. But once the second leaves appear we put them in pots for growing on in an unheated greenhouse, fleece at the ready. They soon go back to growing normally. Never had a problem yet doing it this way. Hope that helps

Garden news mag?

I subscribed to Garden News for two years, I have just stopped only because after two years the articles seem to repeat themselves. But don't let that put you off, I found it very easy to read in a bright lively format. So yes, go for Garden News. It works out cheaper if you can subscribe and you get free seeds!
