my first succulent

Posted: 01/06/2014 at 22:35

OK might sound strange, but yes this is my first succulent. I have put it in a terracotta pot, with a mixture of half hort grit and half Multi-purpose. I have also mulched with hort grit. Did I do right? Any other tips to looking after succulents.

pansies and violas

Posted: 22/05/2014 at 12:27

Hi Mike

Yes pansies and violas can go on flowering for quite a long time. You can dig them up and put them in smaller pots. I did that with a few of mine. They are tough as old boots and take a lot for re-potting. Yes you can prune them quite hard back, the Chelsea Chop. If you have good growth at the bottom of the plant they will grow and flower again. It's worth keeping them because when your bedding plants die off, hopefully your pansies and violas will give you Autumn and Winter colour. You can get a good couple of seasons out of them.

I'm really enjoying the Show, an hour of garden design indulgent. A great antidote after a hard slog at the office.

Beware queen wasps looking for a home

Posted: 18/05/2014 at 12:37

Just a heads up, I have spent the morning trying to deter a queen wasp from going into my shed, She seems to know when I open the door she flies straight in. She might just want to shave wood for her nest, but I did not want that nest in my shed.

I manage to chase her out, so keep an eye out if you leave your shed door open you might be followed.

thompson and morgan late deliveries

Hi, has anyone else not had their delivery from T&M?. I sent off an order form for some New Guinea Impatiens with an expected delivery for the end of April. No money has left my account and it's nearly the end of May. I have tried phoning but you are just left hanging there.
