Re-felting a shed

Refelting is easy peasy - throw the felt over the roof and nail it on with felt nails, tucking the edges under. Also, there are a zillion vids to watch on youtube, titled: How to refelt a shed roof.

As for the door, build it yourself - just copy the old door using new timber, or call a joiner round. If they are any good, this will be a easy job for them.

why is my pond brown and not clear

Brown water is an accumulation of suspended particles caused by organic matter.

There are far too many fish for starters. That size pond should really hold 17 fish max.

Using the old rule-of-thumb of 1″ of fish per every 10 gallons - 15 fish at 7″ (for example) comes to a 1050 gallons pond.

How long has the water been brown, when did you start having problems ?? And how long you had the pond ??

Here in the northeast all the cherry trees in my local area, and there are many. Have, I've noticed, very few leaves, look blackened and are beginning to drop what little fruit they had, still green. No cherries this year !!

Ok, done a bit of googling and it may appear that the description of the critters given from pennypat are infact geophilidae's, these are the creatures that I see loads of in my soil too.

Regardless of what appears to be lost in translation, unless it's a mouldy growth of some considerable size, which I doubt from your description. They are still fine to eat. They've just spent a number of weeks underground - expect some anomalies. 

In fact it sounds like lenticels - natural pores used for the exchange of gas. ALL perfectly natural and safe to eat

Sounds more like a millipede if it got legs - nowt to worry about. No action needed, I have loads in my soil and they don't cause any damage.

This is all natural and nothing to worry about. You should after you dug them up. Leave them on top of soil for 30-1 hour, so the skins can dry out.

Potatoes form on an underground stem from the plants main stem, think of lots arms with a potato attached. The seed potato which you describe as " the base of the green stem is discoloured and has nothing on it ". Well yeah, the seed potato was only needed to grow the plant. The potatoes produced don't grow from this part of the plant.

Again, everything sounds fine to me, a part from perhaps a small crop, which sometimes happens.

If the chemical control route is not your thing, just rub them off and give em a gentle hose down, If you don't want to be bothered with either controls next year. Perhaps invest in some good quality horticultural netting and build yourself some cages/cloches which will keep 70% of the pests out. If the netting is looked after, it should last for many years.

I know what your thinking, I'll checkout the pound shop - false economy imo. I bought some fab netting about 4 years ago. Which seemed like an expense at the time. Still got it, still use, still no holes in it. Now thats, valve for money !!!
