Autumn Colour

Posted: 31/10/2014 at 13:18

Its getting late into Autumn now, although the weather outside would make you think otherwise!

I thought we could post our lovely photos for others to enjoy, be it plants that are still hanging on, or plants that revel in the time of year.

I will get things started!

I have to say this thread is getting ridiculous. If people did really feel intimidated or threatened then I'm sure they wouldnt hang about.

The fact that we have gained so many forum members this year disproves that theory.

This is a wonderful forum and you shouldnt be thinking otherwise.

Wouldnt it be a boring world we lived in if everyone was the same and everyone was perfect?

Not everyone uses one thing for the same thing. We have to respect what other people decide to use the forum for.

It's not causing anyone any actual harm.

Overwintering Cannas

Posted: 28/10/2014 at 17:53

My cannas are drying out in the greenhouse at the moment upside down.

I will store these in a cardboard box filled with straw under the staging same as my Dahlias.

I'll start them off February/March time depending on weather conditions.

Invasive shrub

There are a few cultivars of the Pink Japanese Anemone.

I'm guessing some are more well behaved than others.

I have a white one called Andrea Atkinson, its perfectly well behaved.

early spring

Snow? Never heard of it.

Out of the bulbs I planted up there are some tiny little crocus shoots and a Hyacinth popping through.

I'm not worried, these are tough plants.

Pansy help

Thats usually down to the soil being too wet. Its not always fatal but I wouldnt grow Pansies or Violas in that soil again.

Pull off any affected leaves and it may be ok

I agree with nut. After a couple of years the flower spikes are smaller, but this is great as they dont tend to fall over and rot so quickly.
